EMX New Tab
collects nothing.
EMX New Tab is a free browser extension from EMX Software. It has
no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and EMX Software receives
no data from it.
In short
- No data is collected or sold
- Settings, uploads and notes stay in your browser
- Weather is off unless you turn it on
1. What stays on your device
- Your settings (background, colors, clock, greeting, search bar and links) are saved in the browser's extension storage.
- Images and videos you add under My uploads, logos you add to links, and quick notes are saved in your browser on this device only. They are never uploaded.
2. Network requests
- Search: when you search, your words go to the search engine you chose. By default this is your browser's own search engine.
- Weather (off by default): if you turn weather on and grant permission, the city name you type is sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to look up the temperature. Your device location is not used.
- Links: opening a link takes you to that website.
- Website icons on your links come from your browser's own icon cache; no request is made for them.
3. Permissions
- storage, unlimitedStorage: save your settings and uploads in your browser.
- search: send searches to your browser's default search engine.
- favicon: show website icons on your links from the browser's cache.
- Optional access to open-meteo.com: requested only if you turn weather on.
4. Removing your data
Use Reset all settings in the extension, remove uploads from My
uploads, or uninstall the extension to delete everything it stored
in your browser.
